The word “Fluorite” comes from the Latin fluo, fluor & fluere, which means a stream, flowing water, or to flow, because it’s commonly found in a sea-green or ocean blue color. Though named for flowing water, Fluorite can appear in a complete rainbow of colors, often containing two or more bands of color.
Historically, the Chinese used fluorite for carving reliefs and figurines. They believed it symbolized greatness and would use it to carve out pictures of victorious battles or successful warriors. The Romans believed fluorite would prevent over-indulgence and often made their wine chalices from different varieties of the crystal. Ancient Greeks, too, valued Green Fluorite, often giving it as gifts.
Green Fluorite is said to give mental clarity and stability. It's a great harmonizer, making sense out of confusion and helping organize and reframe thoughts. It restores order and also promotes peace in the mind, body, and environment. Often referred to as the “genius stone,” it has a strong connection to intelligence and mental aptitude.
